Go Hawks!

In November we had the pleasure of welcoming the Seattle Seahawks and Blitz (the hawk himself) visit McMicken! Let's just say the kids were VERY excited! #GoHawks!

Pumpkin Guts, Yuck!

I know it's almost Christmas, but I decided it's better late than never to post the hilarity that ensues at Halloween time. For our Halloween party, we did a pumpkin investigation, full of writing about our senses and the pumpkin, some measurement, estimation, and even feeling the guts inside! The kids' faces were priceless!

What's different?

This child took the question a LITTLE too literally.... 😒

What's up doc?

So the school provides fresh fruit and vegetables for the kids' snacks every day. Today's veggies were a little TOO fresh ;)

All About Me!

This week the students did an "All About Me" unit where we learned the stories of how they got their names, some of the languages they speak at home, and ended the unit with a poster that explains "All About Me." Here are some of the responses I received:

"I show others I care by...massaging them and cooking for them."........ massaging!?!

This part is to write 3 "super-cool facts about yourself here!"
1. I know a lot about vacuums
2. I know a lot about iPods

...vacuums?!
Reading these posters was hilarious! We hung them up in the hallway for parents to see for curriculum night last night and they loved them! The kids loved coming to see everyone's posters up too! Curriculum night was a success and it's great to be settling into a routine with these kiddos. I'm also excited to welcome 4 new students to my room Monday for a total of 25 now :)

First Day of School!

Well... it's official.
Tomorrow is my first day of teaching 2nd grade.
Today we had a back-to-school BBQ and I got to meet a few of my students and their parents.
Seeing the students today made me more excited than ever!
I am looking forward to updating this blog with hilarious/ridiculous stories and pictures throughout the year with my super second graders!
 I hope you enjoy! :)
