So today, I was going over the daily schedule with my class and mentioned "then you will have your 15 minute recess..." all of a sudden one of my students yells out "hey! 15 minutes could save you 50% or more on car insurance!!"
It's moments like these that make my job worth while! :)
a compilation of the many crazy moments that come from teaching 7 and 8 year olds! :)

2nd Graders Are Experts!
My students just finished their non-fiction writing unit. Their task was to complete an "expert book" where they teach someone about something they're an expert on. They had to include a table of contents, glossary, fun facts, pictures, etc. Today we had our publishing party where students walked around, read each other's books, and wrote compliments to each other :)
The books turned out amazing! However, amidst all these lovely books and the stacks of books about Pokemon and cats, there were some hidden gems ;)
Here's some expert advice from my lovely 2nd graders. Take notes.
Did you know that when you get to know worms they could be "really nice?" I need to start hangin' out with more worms!
It wouldn't be a writing unit with out my one student writing about vacuums and "hepa filters." Seriously, this child knows more about vacuums than I do!! (He recommends the Shark Rotator Lift Away... "It's apparently the best vacuum out there today"
.... I think? This student wrote his book all about cards (Pokemon, playing cards, etc.). Here he warns us to keep cards away from fire!
